Hearts & Minds
Community Barbershop in Wallasey
At Just 4 Men Barbers, we’ve always believed this job is about more than haircuts.
It’s about people, confidence, routine, trust, and sometimes just giving someone a place where they feel comfortable for half an hour.

Based on Poulton Road in Wallasey, our family-run barbershop has been part of the local community for over 35 years. In that time, we’ve seen first haircuts, haircuts before starting school, haircuts before weddings, job interviews, holidays, and big life moments. We’ve watched children grow up, and then had the privilege of giving their children their first haircut too.
As a long-standing barbers in Wallasey, we’re proud to be known as a family-friendly barbershop in the Wirral, especially for children’s haircuts, first haircuts, and sensory haircuts.
When people sit in the chair, it’s never just about the hair. It’s about hearts and minds.
What We Mean By Hearts & Minds
Some children walk in and jump straight in the chair.
Some take a bit of time.
Some cry.
Some just want to sit and watch first.
Some need the same chair every time.
Some need the iPad.
Some need quiet.
Some need a conversation.
Some don’t want to talk at all.
And that’s why there is no “one way” to cut someone’s hair.

You have to understand the person first. Once someone feels comfortable, the haircut becomes the easy part.
This is especially important when it comes to children’s haircuts, first haircuts, and sensory haircuts, where patience and trust make all the difference.
We don’t do these things for attention — we do them because this community has looked after us, and we believe in looking after our community too.
The Kind of Barbershop We Try To Be
We try to be the kind of community barbershop in Wallasey where:
• A child who was scared last time feels a bit braver this time
• Parents feel reassured instead of stressed
• People can come in and have a chat if they need one
• Teenagers can figure out what style they want without feeling awkward
• Someone can sit quietly and just have a break from everything
• Everyone feels welcome when they walk through the door
Because sometimes a barbershop is one of the only places people sit still for half an hour, and we don’t take that for granted.
Part of the Wallasey Community
Being a local barbershop in Wallasey means more to us than just opening the doors and cutting hair.
Over the years, we’ve tried to give something back to the community that has supported our Wirral barbershop for so long.
Our community work includes:
• Our Community Christmas Party for local children and families
• Free Cut Fridays, offering free haircuts to people who need a helping hand
• Supporting local schools and families
• Providing sensory and quiet haircuts in the Wirral for children who need a calmer environment
• Building long-term relationships with families across Wallasey and the Wirral

Nothing is too much trouble and they have a lovely relationship with young children and even provide distractions for children who maybe anxious or have anxiety issues or autism.
When I've been in the barbers the children appear happy to be playing on the consoles or watching a video.
